The more worrying thing is that people are bidding on it.
Maybe it's just because it's for charity. I'm amazed at how people will donate money to charity because someone is willing to do something stupid. Perhaps they don't actually want the toast.
Unless it's to be varnished as a conversation piece. "My dear, I paid TWO HUNDRED POUNDS for it, isn't that a hoot?"
Or maybe it's because Lehman's has just filed for bankruptcy, so it's like the toaster knew, and people feel like they are buying a piece of finacial history ....
