Anthropomorphising
Aug. 3rd, 2005 06:35 pmOk, before we begin, understand that I am not and never have been a furry. I know people who are, but I am not among their number. If anybody says "The lady doth protest too much," I'll hit them.
I'm just intrigued by anthropomorphic universes because I just don't get it. To begin with, in the early morning, when smart people are listening to Today on Radio 4, I sometimes slum and watch TV. Recently the BBC have been showing Arthur
I'm thinking "If they all grow up, and Buster Baxter (a rabbit) marries Sue Ellen (a cat) would it count as miscegenation, or even bestiality? There are no mixed couples in this universe, after all. Arthur has a pet dog, but Prunella, one of his school classmates, is also a dog. And just what kind of animal is Binky Barnes supposed to be anyway? And they had an episode which dealt with racism and it emerged that 'The Brain' is black. But how were we supposed to know that? He's a guinea pig!
As I said, I just don't get it.
On the other hand,Usagi Yojimbo is cool, the odd contradictions remain but he frequently slices people up with his samurai sword. That compensates for much.
